
Biography
Alexis Evers is currently performing and teaching in Portland, Oregon. She performs as principal flute with the Eugene Concert Orchestra and second flute with Oregon Mozart Players. She is also the third flutist/piccoloist with the Rogue Valley Symphony of southern Oregon. She has also performed with Orchestra NEXT (Eugene Ballet Company), Festival Napa Valley's Blackburn Music Academy (2018), and Eugene Symphony Orchestra.
An avid performer of new music, she was a 2018 Guest Artist for the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium, and was a featured performer at the 2018 SEAMUS (Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States) national conference. She is also a frequent collaborator with members of the Oregon Composers Forum.
Alexis also enjoys performing with her chamber group, the Xebec Trio, alongside fellow flutist Robert Wakeley and pianist Ednaldo Borba. Xebec Trio was a finalist in the chamber division of the 2019 Ladies Musical Club of Seattle Frances Walton Competition, and were featured in the 2019 Oregon Mozart Players' Summer House Concert series in Eugene. The trio seeks to bring more unique and interesting repertoire for two flutes and piano to audiences around the Pacific Northwest.
A dedicated teacher, she maintains a private studio in the Portland area. Additionally, she conducted the West Winds Flute Choir for their 2017-2018 season and was a member of the faculty for the 2016 University of Oregon High School Summer Music Camp, and frequently coaches the flutists of the Corvallis Youth Symphony Association and Union High School in Camas, WA.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with Dr. Jonathan Keeble. During her studies there, she was a James Scholar and a member of the acclaimed Illinois Wind Symphony, as well as a winner of the prestigious Thomas J. Smith Scholarship Competition (2012). She recently earned her Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon (2016), where she was a student of Molly Barth.
In her free time, Alexis enjoys running long distances and hiking in the forests of Oregon.
